The Westmeath Topic is a newspaper founded in Mullingar, Ireland in 1971. It began as a weekly magazine and went under the name "TOPIC". It was then changed to "Midland Topic' and finally to "Westmeath Topic". The newspaper circulates all over Westmeath except Athlone where its sister newspaper The Athlone Topic circulates. There are roughly twenty four pages of colour in the newspaper out of seventy two, and the Westmeath Topic is the last newspaper in Leinster which is locally owned, locally produced and locally printed.
