Westland Middle School

Westland Middle School is a public school in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland.
Recently, the school has gained some fame, because, in 1963, Michelle Bachelet, current President of Chile, attended Westland, while her father, Alberto Bachelet, was assigned to the military mission at the Chilean Embassy in Washington, D.C.. Her classmates included the children of Congressmen Donald M. Fraser and Henry Reuss. At the time the school was called Western Junior High School. In 2006, while on her first state visit to the United States as president of Chile, Bachelet returned to Westland and met with teachers and students.
