Westlake Chaparral Stadium at Ebbie Neptune Field
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Westlake Chaparral Stadium at Ebbie Neptune Field is a high school football stadium located in Austin, Texas that serves as the home field of the Westlake Chaparrals Football Team. The Stadium opened in 2002 with a 21-10 victory over the Westwood Warriors and has been one of the toughest places for opposing teams to play nationwide. Since its opening, only one visiting team has managed to walk off the field with a victory, and that was in a playoff game. The Chaparrals have never lost a regular season home game at Westlake Chaparral Stadium. Through November 10th, 2006, The Chaps are 25-1 at New Chaparral Stadium. Since the start of the 1990 season, Westlake has an 82-3-1 record when playing at Home (Old and New Chaparral Stadium).

[edit] Uniqueness of Stadium
Chaparral Stadium in many ways feels and looks more like a small college stadium than a high school stadium. On the south end, a large state of the art scoreboard is graced with a jumbotron (called the Jumbo-Chap by Westlake folks) and is one of the few high school stadiums in the Austin area that has a jumbotron. The field is also unique that it comes complete with the midfield logo and painted end zones on its Astroturf surface. The stadium also has a state of the art pressbox at the top of the home side stands which is usually used for hosting VIP's as well as other functions (coach's booth, TV/Video crew, etc). The Jumbotron is only used during Home Football Games.
[edit] Previous Stadium
On the site of what is now Westlake Chaparral Stadium at Ebbie Neptune Field stood the former Chaparral Stadium, which was demolished after the 2001 season. The only parts from the old stadium left over are the visitors side pressbox and the former scoreboard (though it is covered with advertising signs now).

[edit] Other Events at Chaparral Stadium
Chaparral Stadium also serves as the home of the Westlake Women's and Men's Soccer Teams and anually hosts the Westlake Marching Band Festival. Track and Field also takes place inside the stadium. The stadium's artificial turf, embedded football lines, and the painted end zones renders the field not very suitable for soccer, yet it also boasts a nice home field advantage for the soccer teams. Only the home section stands are used for soccer games and the jumbotron is not used.
