[edit] Staff
Westgarth has approximately 25 teachers under the leadership of principal Grace Conway. She replaced Chas Parkinson in 2002. Other former principals include John Collins (1980s).
Westgarth's best-known teacher is veteran music teacher Heather Connor, who leads the school's performance program. While other teachers and staff are known by their first names, Connor is known almost universally within the school community as "Mrs Connor". Connor oversees the creation of the three-yearly Westgarth School Musical and the annual Christmas concert, a process described in detail by the Sunday Age newspaper.
[edit] History
‎Westgarth Primary was founded in 1924 as Westgarth Central School, Number 4771 in the Victorian system. Originally both a primary and secondary school, it eventually became primary-only. The original red-brick main building was demolished in the 1980s and a series of new buildings erected in its place.
