West Shore Subdivision
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The West Shore Subdivision is a railroad line owned by New York Central Lines LLC and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of New York. The line runs from Fairport west to North Chili[1] along a former New York Central Railroad line. Both of its ends are at the Rochester Subdivision; it provides a southern bypass of Rochester.
[edit] History
The entire line opened in 1884 as part of the New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railway.[citation needed] It became part of the New York Central and Conrail through leases, mergers, and takeovers, and was assigned to CSX in the 1999 breakup of Conrail.
