The designation West Pacific refers to the portion of the Pacific Ocean nearest to Asia and Oceania. There appears to be no single official definition of the term. However, its eastern boundary is generally taken to be the ±180° meridian. Thus the West Pacific lies in the Eastern Hemisphere.
