West Nickel Mines School was a one-room Amish schoolhouse located at 4876 East White Oak Road in Nickel Mines, an area of Bart Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The school was built in 1976[1]. The students' ages ranged from 6 to 13[2]. 25-30 students attended the school.

The school was the site of a shooting on October 2, 2006, when Charles Carl Roberts IV, a 32-year-old milk truck driver who lived nearby entered the school, took hostages, and then killed five female students (he allowed the males to escape) and himself.[3],[4]

The school was destroyed on October 12, 2006[5] and a new school has since been built near the original site, and is called the New Hope School. The New Hope School opened on April 2, 2007, precisely six months after the shooting.[6]
