Tyne and Wear Metro List of Tyne and Wear Metro stations |
West Monkseaton Metro station is a station on the Tyne and Wear Metro which originally opened by the LNER in 1933. It reopened as part of the first section of the Metro in, 1980. The station was designed in the Art Deco style, fashionable in some circles when the suburb was built, but echoed very little by the surrounding housing, which tends towards the more traditional "Mock Tudor" suburban style of mainly semi-detached housing that grew up between the 1920s and the 1950s.
[edit] Ticketing anomalies
Different zonal fare systems are used for Metro single tickets and inter-modal Transfare tickets, which means that for a number of journeys a Transfare may actually be cheaper than a standard Metro-only ticket.
