West Midlands Regiment

The West Midlands Regiment is a British Territorial Army Regiment that is composed of six companies.

HQ Company Wolverhampton - (Historically Staffords)

A Company Birmingham and Coventry (Fusiliers) -

B Company Kidderminster and Worcester (Worcester Forresters) -

C Company Burton on Trent and Tamworth (Staffords) -

D Company Stoke on Trent (Staffords) -

E Company Shrewsbury and Hereford (Light Infantry) -

The regiment was derived from the following county infantry Battalions and raised on the 05/04/1988:


3 Staffords

4 WFR

5 LI

5 RRF


In early 2006 the Platoon (MG) at Canley Coventry was disbanded and most soldiers transferred to Birmingham the remainder becoming part of 37 Signal Regiment,In late 2006 the platoon at Hereford (Recce)was disbanded and the platoon became part of the RLMY.


They have served in recent conflicts and in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Northern Ireland.

The entire Regiment is soon to be changed into the 4th Battalion, The Mercian Regiment.
