The West Indian cricket team toured England in the 2000 cricket season. West Indies played five Tests against England, two in June and three in August, with a triangular ODI series involving Zimbabwe in July.

In June, West Indies won the 1st Test at Edgbaston convincingly, by an innings and 93 runs.[1] Despite scoring only 134 in their first innings, England bowled West Indies out for 54 in their second innings, to win the 2nd Test at Lord's by 2 wickets, and level the series.[2]

A triangular ODI series, sponsored by NatWest, took place in July, involving Zimbabwe in addition to West Indies and England, with each team playing the two others three times each. West Indies lost 4 of their matches, and England beat Zimbabwe in the final at Lord's, England's first victory in an ODI series since Sharjah in 2000.[3]

The Test series concluded in August. The 3rd Test at Old Trafford was drawn, [4] and West Indies won a one-off one-day match against Scotland, on 13 August 2000.[5] However, England won both the 4th Test at Headingley and the 5th Test at the Oval convincingly,[6] [7] to record a 3-1 series victory, giving England its first series victory against West Indies for 31 years in the first home series with new England coach Duncan Fletcher in charge.[8]

The ball dominated the bat for most of the Test series, with a bowler taking 5 wickets in an innings on seven occsasions, but only 3 batsmen scoring centuries (2 in the drawn 3rd Test). A hallmark of the series was the inconsistency of the West Indies batting: the team passed 300 runs only twice, and were twice dismissed in the second innings for less than 70 runs. England only passed 300 once, in the drawn 3rd Test, but consistently recorded scores between 150 and 300.

West Indies were captained by Jimmy Adams, and England by Nasser Hussain. Courtney Walsh took the most wickets for either team (34), winning the Malcolm Marshall Memorial Trophy, far ahead of Curtly Ambrose (17), who retired after the 5th Test.[9] Walsh was also the West Indies player of the series. Darren Gough took the most wickets (25) for England, closely followed by Andrew Caddick (22) and Dominic Cork (20). Gough was the England player of the series. Marcus Trescothick (47.50, who made his Test debut in the 3rd Test) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (40.75) headed the England and West Indies Test batting averages. Matthew Hoggard made his Test debut in the 2nd Test, and Mahendra Nagamootoo in the 5th Test.
