West High School is a public school located in Davenport, Iowa. Their athletic mascot is the Falcon. The school newspaper is Beak 'n' Eye.The school has over 200 classes, and over 2,000 students. Davenport Comunity School District (DCSD) is the district that West is in. There is also North High School and Central High School (The original high school of Daveport). West was built in the 1960's and the current principal is Nancy Jacobsen (Formerly at Williams Intermediate). West has a block schedule meaning that they have up to 16 classes each year. (9 weeks in a term). The classes are 90 minutes long, and each student usually haves 5-6 minutes passing time. The student will be assigned a counselor upon last name. For example, if you had a last name starting in H, than you would have O`Hare. To graduate West High School, you would need 26 units of credit. Here is a link to the school website: West School Site. The school has done some remodeling in this past year (2006). The school has gotten a new lunch room with a new look.

Unit: a form of credit based upon the carnegie unit; one unit (1.0) is granted for the successful completion of a course which meets one block per day for a term, or the equivalent; a half unit (0.5) is granted for the successful completion of a course which meets one period/block perday for a term or the equivalent. One carnegie unit is equal to 120 hours of instruction.
Grade point average:the GPA is computed by dividing the total grade points by the number of credit subjects completed: based on 4-point scale, ie., A=4.000, B=3.000, C=2.000, D=1.000, F=0.000
partial credit: a course which is not a "solid"; earns less than 0.5 units per term
Prerequisite: a course which must be taken first before enrollment in another class(Example: Accounting I is a prerequisite to Accounting II).
Elective: a course which may be taken for credit but is not required for graduation

you need 26 units of credit starting fall 2005 so you would need 8 Language art, 6 Social studies, 6 Math, 1 Computer Technology Class, 21 Electives, 1 Lifetime Fitness class(Gym+Health), 3 P.E classes *1 Per Year except freshman year than life time fitness, 6 Science,
