[edit] Biography

Formed in February 2005, West Grand Boulevard originally consisted of Bryan Gamboa, Dharma S., Erik Evangelisa, Jude Lee and Jonathan Jake. The band quickly rose to prominence in the Singapore independent music scene due to their numerous live performances and Gamboa's strong on-stage presence. On August 25 of the same year, their song "Flights of Fancy" was featured on the Small Fry podcast, which showcases Singaporean indie music.

On February 24, 2006, Bryan, the band's lead vocalist and frontman, left West Grand Boulevard due to time commitments. A somewhat controversial decision was made to replace him with Daphne Khoo of Singapore Idol fame, with critics claiming that Khoo - well-known for performing pop songs during her Idol stint - was unsuited for taking up West Grand Boulevard's style of music. Fans remain divided over this issue.

As of April 2006, the band is working on their upcoming debut album and music video, both scheduled for release during June 2006.

It was announced that Khoo will leave the band and Gamboa will be returning, stating that the original lineup will be back to grace the local scene again. A private farewell gig was held and the members cried their hearts out while playing.[citation needed]

Bryan Gamboa returned to the lineup as West Grand Boulevard played to a gig held at DXO.
