West End Park

West End Park was a stadium in Kinston, NC. It was primarily used for baseball, and was the home field of the "Outlaw League" Kinston Robins, and Kinston Highwaymen, and the Kinston Eagles of the Virginia and Eastern Carolina Leagues.

West End Park was designed by local baseball legend George Suggs for the 1921-1922 outlaw teams (the Kinston Robins and Kinston Highwaymen). The stadium was overhauled when Kinston joined the Virginia League in 1925 as the Eagles. The Kinston Free Press regularly reported on the new amenities as they were being added:

2/9/1925 KFP:

"Work on the park is progressing merrily. There will be three turnstiles, to facilitate the handling of the crowds, and two large double gates which will be thrown open for exits. Box seats will be provided around the entire front of the grandstand."

2/11/1925 KFP:

"The grandstand seats will have comfortable backs and there will be ample parking space for the largest pair of feet in the city without undue crowding. The clubhouse will be constructed under the grandstand and be modernly equipped in every particular. There will also be a convenient and well-fitted up rest room for ladies and children. The grandstand will seat between 800 and 1,000 spectators comfortably."

The last season that West End Park was used was 1929.
