West Coburg Cricket Club

West Coburg Cricket Club is a local cricket club in Melborne, Victoria. This club is has has been very successful, particually in the junior ranks.
The under 14 2nd team qualified on top of their competition.
The 2nds would usually line up as follows
Mitchel 'Mitchy' Cross: Young Mitchy is an attacking left handed opener who is very flexible as he can bat anywhere in the order. Tough as nails, he prides himself on getting boys off to a good start. As well as his batting abilities, he is a competent slip fielder and a handy off spinner who often works in tandem with Tom Gouliotides.
Francis 'Frankie' Ambesi: Francis Ambesi is an attacking right hander who loves to bludgeon the ball to the boundaries. He has found himself a new home as an opener and is taking advantage of his new opportunities. He has also landed himself a new role as 1st change bowler, which he has taken to well as well. He is also a capable wicketkeeper.
Tom 'Drakey' Drake: Tom Drake is our 1st drop batsmen who has cemented his place in the position. With almost 300 runs next to his name he is leading the batting averages for the competition with 4 half centuries. Along with his truck load of runs, he is a new ball bowler who can bowl anywhere as low as 2nd change and is also our co-captain who loves to get vocal in the field.
Henry 'Hayensy' Williams: Henry Williams is our other captain for the year who brings different qualities to the table than Drakey does. He is a brilliant batsman who caresses the ball into a gap rather than smacking the cover off it. Along with his batting and cricketing mind, he is a medium pacer wo often takes wickets when the team desperately needs one
Kale 'Claff' Claffey: Kale Claffey is an opening bowler who is incredible accurate. He often reminds people of Glenn Mcgrath because he always gets pissed when he doesn't do well. Along with his bowling skills, he is an attacking middle order batsman who loves to hit the ball hard, as well as helping out with the field settings.
Tom 'Smallman' Smalley: Tom Smalley is the team's wicket keeper. As vocal as anyone in the team, he often lifts the team spirit as soon as it sounds like its dropping off. He also likes to get under the batsmans skin with his witty and occasionally derogatory comments. He is also an attacking batsman who murders anything short and wide outside off. He sometimes opens an innings if the team is chasing a large total.
Kevin 'Kevcho' Cheong: Kevin Cheong is an medium paced opening bowler who is able to swing the ball outrageous lengths. He has taken to the role well and ofen works with Kale. He has good variety who has a good yorker and an accurate bouncer. He is also an ever-improving batter who has made runs more consistently.
Tom 'Goulies&Titties' Gouliotides: Tom Gouliotides is an right arm off-spinner who is up with the best bowlers in the competition. He turns the ball outrageous distances and has great control. He is also a great fielder in the slip cordon and a handy batsman who can hold up an end for your life. Tom also has stepped up as a leader and has captained a few games.
Daniel 'Dannaz' Boeti: Daniel Boeti is an ever-improving cricketer. His slow medium deliveries are a great tool to help stem the flow of runs when the pressure is on. He is able to take alot of pace off the ball so he is hard to get away. He also very good reflexes.
Christian 'Chrisso' Curtis: Christian Curtis is a much loved kid around the team. His swash-buckling battin often provides great entertainment for all. He always puts his body on the line and saves heaps of runs which can often turn a game. However, its his comments and encouragement which is really what he is known for.
Chris 'Dicko' Dixon: Chris Dixon, much like Daniel Boeti, is improving every game. His slow mediums are also great for the same reason as Daniel's. He also has a pair of very safe hands and has taken 6 catches for the season at his favourite postion, mid on. Chris has also proven that he is a capable night-watchmen after he stayed in for a whole day blunting the bowling attack with his solid defence had fast running between wickets.
Steve 'SteveLo' Lopez: Steve Lopez is a slingy medium fast bowler who has taken a bag of wickets this season. He is a skinny bowler but he hurls the ball down at a reasonable pace. Steve is also a competent out-fielder with a very strong arm.
Ryan 'Rhino' Williams: Ryan is the coach of the team. Always with a smile on his face, he loves helping out and trying to improve everyone's game. Rhino is a medium swing bowler and an attacking middle order batsman. He's very passionate about his cricket and beer, and has on numerous times got so drunk he hasn't been available on game day the next Saturday. Good on ya rhino!!
Tom 'Milky' Campbell: Tom is the assistant coach of the team. The younger of the two coaches, he is just as passionate about his cricket and is always on hand for some advice. Tom is a right handed opening batsman and wicketkeeper. He is the whipping boy of the team as everyone hangs shit on him, but he doesn't seem to mind. You're a wanker Milky!!
