West Ashton is a small village in Wiltshire, England. It is located 2 miles south of Trowbridge It contains the hamlets of East Town and Rood Ashton in its parish boundary.

Rood Ashton house was traditionally the home of Viscount Long. The house and the remaining 4,100 acres were put to auction by his executors in February 1930, six years after his death. The estate included 17 farms, 21 small holdings, 100 cottages, 2 public houses including The Longs Arms, and a square mile of woodland. 2,500 acres were purchased by a syndicate of his tenants, finally ending 333 years of continuous ownership by the Long family. The house was used as military accommodation during WWII and later demolished except for the servant’s wing, which is now a private residence. Another building of interest is the parish church,St Johns, which contains the family crypt of the above mentioned Long family.
