West-östlicher Diwan

West-östlicher Diwan or West-östlicher Divan or West-Eastern Divan is a collection of lyrical poems by the German poet Goethe. The work was inspired by the Persian poet Hafiz. The famous Indian poet Muhammad Iqbal wrote his Payam-i-Mashriq (The Message of the East) as a reply to Goethe's diwan.
