The Western Rite Vicariate of the Antiochean Archdiocese of America is not and has never presented itself as a "Western Orthodox Church". No such thing exists. Consult the Vicariate, itself, if you do not believe me.

They use the term Western Orthodoxy prominently on their web site.
Must you keep writing "refers to"? That is a very clumsy locution. Michael Hardy 03:40, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

They do not use the term "Western Orthodox Church". Thus, to call them such is an outright LIE. Ask THEM if they call THEMSELVES the "Western Orthodox Church". Go ahead and contact the vicariate's Deanery and ask.
You're getting rather belligerent here. Do you know that the word "lie" is usually intended to imply intentional dishonesty? Michael Hardy 23:00, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

The Orthodox Church is the only arbiter of its own limits - and for Western Rite Orthodox this means pretty much the Antiochian Western Rite (USA, CAN, NZ, and AUS), the ROCOR Western Rite (USA, AUS, Argentina, Brazil, etc.), and the communities which soon may be (or might still exist) in Europe under Poland, the Czechs, Romania, Serbia, or Moscow. As Wikipedia requests verifiable information, I would suggest that to keep the article for becoming confusing, that any group bearing the name 'Western Orthodox' that is not in communion with the Patriarchs be placed under the 'Independent' category as regards links, and under the alternate definition. There is no good reason to list any others under the first definition until they do what obedience is necessary to actually join the Eastern Orthodox church (correcting their theology, praxis, ecclesiology and being baptized, chrismated, ordained into the Eastern Orthodox communion.) Once again, maintain the link to http://www.occidentalorthodox.org.uk/ It is a directory from a reliable and official source, though in need of an update. Aristibule
