Werrington Lakes, New South Wales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Werrington Lakes in Werrington, New South Wales, Australia were developed in the early eighties as a by-product of the overpass of the railway line to the east of Werrington railway station. Requiring massive amounts of fill to create the new overpass, developers, in conjunction with the council, decided to source the dirt from the original site.

Also used as a wetland to filter stormwater, before entering Werrington Creek, the lake is also used for irrigation to water the cricket ground to the west and also provides picnic and recreation areas.
