Weremo Wajetuna Midarema

Weremo Wajetuna Midarema is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Semien Shewa Zone, Weremo Wajetuna Midarema is bordered on the south by Lay Betna Tach Bet, on the west by the Oromia Region, and on the north and east by the Debub Wollo Zone. Towns and cities in Weremo Wajetuna Midarema include Meragna and Rema.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 100,866, of whom 51,369 were males and 49,497 were females; 6,585 or 6.53% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.8%. With an estimated area of 867.66 square kilometers, Weremo Wajetuna Midarema has an estimated population density of 116.3 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 134.37.[1]

At this moment 1000 households in Rema receive electricity from solar generation, free of charge. This project is funded by Stiftung Solarenergie, a German foundation promoting solar energy.[citation needed]
