[edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Not an admin?
Whoa. I guess you get cliche support from me when you apply :) Cheers -- Samir धर्म 07:27, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I failed due to a silly comment I made in a moment of stupidity - I said no nominations until the end of June to early July, and a number of users have expressed interest in nominating me, so an RfA is not far off. Werdna (talk) 08:56, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- I also thought that you were an admin. :-) . Oh yes, I also requested the code on the .NET Bot Framework page. Take care. Anonymous__Anonymous 22:07, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Code project
Hi, I am collecting lots of code to make a .NET library of useful wiki stuff, see the sourceforge cvs page for the actual code. So far I have got lots of code for formatting articles, getting lists of articles (e.g. from categories, whatLinksHere etc.) code for scanning the database dumps and more. Anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to contribute your bot code? If I remember correctly you didnt want to freely distribute it for risk of vandals using it, but I guess this doesnt matter now, as there is already another .NET bot framework available (I just prefer yours though). Anyway, see what you think, I think the components would all complement extremely well. thanks Martin 20:28, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- After consideration and a scared look at the requests backlog, I've decided to allow this, provided I get write access to the cvs/svn (to update the code). Werdna (talk) 09:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- Of course, let me know what your SourceForge user name is, and I'll add you as a developer. p.s. I just added functions for listening to the IRC recent changes feed, so with your code it will be a pretty comprehensive suite of code. thanks Martin 17:25, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Great, I've added you now. Feel free to upload your code, or I can do it if you like, but bear in mind that there is already comprehensive code for creating lists of articles (in file getLists.cs), and a function to get the html of a page (file tools.cs), so this won't need to be duplicated, thanks! Martin 13:32, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- I (finally) got around to committing. You probably got a commit notification about it. Looking forward to helping you out with this.Copying to Martin's User talk page Werdna (talk) 06:59, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Instructions for accessing the framework
Hello. I recently was approved to use the framework, and was told I'd be receiving instructions on accessing it. [1] I haven't yet received the instructions, so I'm wondering whether it take a few days for those instructions to be sent or whether, instead, the capitals and underscores were not stripped from my e-mail address (originally posted here). [edit] Curious Werdnabot archival
Werdnabot seems to have copied two sections to the archive but neither removed them from the original talk page (which I did afterwards) nor recorded the edit in the log. Is something on my talk page confusing it? Kirill Lokshin 15:24, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- The error log reveals the following information: 29/06/2006 12:00:35 AM: Error committing archive operation on User talk:Kirill Lokshin to User talk:Kirill Lokshin/Archive II, The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.. In other words, Wikipedia was unstable at the time. Werdna (talk) 01:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. Kirill Lokshin 02:15, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Not Archiving
I checked the code on my page agaisnt your code to make sure I had things entered properly but it hasn't archived since last night, and I have plenty of sections all time stamped over the age. I've reapplied the template following the how to. But its hard having to wait 6 hours to see if its worked. If you happen to get a chance, could you verify everything is proper on my page? --Crossmr 17:55, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] You serious? (Thanks!)
You're serious? You actually thought I was an admin?
Anyways, thanks so much for the support on my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. Let me know at my talk page any time if I can help you with any admin-related tasks (to turn things around on you, I had to do a double take when I read on your user page that you weren't one already), or just if you have any comments on how I'm doing as an admin. Thanks! TheProject 21:38, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hi Andy!
How are you doing, my dear Andy? I just wanted to drop by, since we haven't talked in quite some time; and since you were so kind to visit me and tell me those extremely nice things, I invited myself to your Talk page ;) Anyway, seriously, thanks, Andy - your words cheered me up a lot. It saddens me, tho, that you're not an admin yet despite all your obvious hard work. Perhaps the time to try again is near? If I could help you out in the least with it, it will surely be my pleasure. Hope you're doing fine, hun - a big hug, it's great to see you again! :) Phædriel ♥ tell me - 03:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Phaedriel, thanks for your message, it brightened my day :). I actually failed two or so months ago, and stated that I wouldn't accept new nominations until "Late June to Early July". Tawker has expressed interest in nominating me in the next few days, so you can expect to see me there soon! Thanks again for your message, it's nice to know that my efforts are appreciated, and it's great to get back in contact with somebody I haven't talked to in a while. Werdna (talk) 08:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for your support in my RfA!
Thanks for voting! Hello Werdna648/Archive/Archive-Jul06, and thanks for your support in my recent RfA. I'm pleased to announce that it passed with a final tally of (96/0/0). I was overwhelmed by all of the nice comments and votes of confidence from everyone. Thanks again, and see you around! OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:23, 2 July 2006 (UTC) |

[edit] Your bot
Hi, Your bot said that there was an error archiving my talk page. Is this because I manually archived my talk page and there is nothing on the page older than seven days yet?--Kungfu Adam (talk) 10:50, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- You're not supposed to put the values in brackets. I've fixed this for you. Werdna (talk) 11:14, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, I put an older post in the active page and your bot archived it on this round of archiving.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 15:14, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Yes!
Please please please, that sounds wonderful! Please have your bot archive my user talk page!--Jimbo Wales 15:19, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Possible Werdnabot need
Greeetings Werdna648, User:Crypticbot seems to be MIA and WP:AN and WP:ANI are starting to stack up with messages. Maybe there's something you might be able to do with User:Werdnabot or similiar? Cheers. Netscott 17:49, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Could you add my talk page to it's todo list. Also, please add User talk:Jimbo Wales. Computerjoe's talk 21:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers, thanks for the assistance. :-) According to new messages Crypticbot may be back this coming week. Still there may be need for a more permanent solution. You might want join the WP:AN discussion or drop a note on User_talk:Cryptic's page. Thanks again. Netscott 01:50, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- To have Werdnabot archive a talk page, use User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Template. You'll need to manually replace the values there, as the template is screwed. Werdna (talk) 03:23, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Can your bot do furry fandom's talk page? Maybe anything older than 6 months? DyslexicEditor 01:50, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bullying
At the time I wrote my comment I thought you were an admin. When I discovered you were not an admin I intended to write you a note of apology, but got distracted by Real Life (Italy scoring two goals in the final minutes!). Anyway - yes - I apologise. We all get heated now and again and snap at each other. Keep well. SilkTork 07:47, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- No problem, and thanks for clearing this up. No apology necessary, but thanks anyway. Werdna (talk) 08:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Threatening to block
You really shouldn't be saying "you will be blocked" to other users, especially considering that you don't even have the tools (yet) to back up that threat. It's just not polite, and in this specific circumstance, it didn't even seem deserved. I hope you understand. --Cyde↔Weys 13:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, how do you justify using the {{bv}} template? Werdna (talk) 22:13, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- The {{bv}} is specifically for, as its name suggests, blatant vandals - not borderline cases of incivility. Its not so much that you said it, as it is how you said it, and why you said it. KillerChihuahua?!? 13:37, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- I use "you may be blocked" - this is accurate enough IMO. Just zis Guy you know? 14:09, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Nod nod, that is more accurate, indeed: it also has the benefit of being a mention of possible consequence, whereas will be sounds like a threat. KillerChihuahua?!? 14:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Backup
Since Crypticbot is now MIA, I hope that you have backups of the source code for Werdnabot. As far as I know if we loose Werdnabot we're screwed (I haven't noticed any other archival bots).
I'm not sure what the point of this message is...just making sure that we don't loose the incredibly valuable service that your bot provides to our whole community. =D --mboverload@ 08:20, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] There's a difference
There's a difference between re-sign and resign([3]). Be careful with word selection. I was shocked to see your resignation on my watchlist :) — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 18:13, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, okay - it was late at night. Plus, it was on my RfA talk - seems like a dodgy place to post a resignation anyway. Werdna (talk) 00:41, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Werdnabot
(Re-adding this since it was archived before being replied to – Andreas Blixt ☺ 13:52, 9 July 2006 (UTC))
Hi there, I've added my talk page for archival by your bot, Werdnabot. I just thought I'd make a suggestion about the message box the inclusion puts in its place. Currently it's using a table for layout, which is frowned upon by professional web designers (tables are meant to hold columns of data). On my talk page I have changed the message box to be less intrusive and at the same time using a <div> tag rather than a table. You might be interested in using that format instead.

I'd like to drop a note here to say thanks to all of those who contributed to this request for adminship, on both sides. As many of you know, I do not have any plans to participate any further in Requests for adminship in its current form. Werdna (talk) 08:55, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Syntax error during 0800 UTC run
When I added the Werdabot tag to my talk page, I neglected to remove the () around it, resulting in a syntax error. That was the last entry in the job log at https://www.epstone.net/WPA-output.txt for the 0800 run.
I have fixed my tag, but I'm wondering if my goof on my page broke something elsewhere. --DarkAudit 14:31, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Additional My page was archived at 15:15 UTC, so all seems well. I didn't break it. :) --DarkAudit 19:48, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
