Wendy Weatherbee was created by artist Fernando Ruiz and editor Nelson Ribeiro for Archie Comic Publications, Inc.. She is the artistic and quirky niece of Riverdale High's principal Waldo Weatherbee. Wendy Weatherbee, or 'Double W', made her first appearance in Tales From Riverdale Digest #10. The key factor to Wendy's character is that even thought she is extremely pretty, she has a hard time finding dates due to her relation with the high school's principal. Wendy once tried to hit on Jughead. Apart from every other girl in Riverdale Betty & Veronica are not threatened by Wendy because they know that Archie, although he is attracted to her, is too scared to date her for fear of Mr. Weatherbee's wrath. Wendy has a website and weird fashion sense. Her website played a key role in a Betty and Veronica story. She also has a pet tarantula named Tara and belongs to an entomology club.

  • Tales From Riverdale #10 - Wendy's first appearance. This introduces many of her characteristics. This also establishes that Wendy is Mr. Weatherbee's niece. This story also establishes Archie's and Reggie's crush on her.
  • Jughead and Friends #12 - This shows her love for comic books. In this story, she tries to get Jughead to notice her.
  • Betty and Veronica Double Digest #144 - Wendy's website plays a key role in this story. Wendy doesn't actually appear herself though (except as pictures on the website).

  • So far, Wendy's parents haven't been shown in any Archie Comics story.
