[edit] Encoding

Chinese should be in html unicode. The software automatically converts this i think if you insert the displayed chinese and submit it. are you just sumbmitting the unconverted Big5 Code? I converted your code (using IE 6) by going to View -> Encoding and selecting Chinese traditional. I'm not knowledgeable on the details, so if it doesn't work, try asking the wikipedia:village pump. --Jiang 06:42, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Re your revert: Free China is a disambiguation page; per WP:DAB, there should not be links to it. The sentence reads "During the Cold War, he was also seen as the leader who led Free China". Free Area of the Republic of China is about this concept (the contrast of "Free China" and "Communist China"). The other links at that disambiguation page are obviously inappropriate targets here. An excerpt:

This term came into usage again amid the Cold War. Following the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the People's Republic of China was established by the Communists in control of mainland China while the ruling Kuomintang government retreated to Taiwan (and its surrounding islands) and declared Taipei to be the provisional capital of the Republic of China. The KMT viewed the Communist-declared People's Republic of China as an illegitimate entity and regarded its government to be the sole legitimate government of China. Mainland China was declared to be in a state of "Communist Rebellion" (the "Period of Communist Rebellion" would be officially terminated by the ROC government in 1991).

To support this view, the KMT referred to the territories under its control as the "Free Area" to distinguish itself from the territories under the Communists, whom the KMT tried to portray as oppressive and totalitarian.

Yeah, what I was trying to convey was that while LTH apologised on behalf of the government and the KMT at the time, he is no longer a member of the KMT. Hi there, just wanted to give you a note that I am not reverting on Taiwanese American out of any disrespect to you or other users inovlved. I am approaching it from two basic principles:

1. WP:RS: the two sources which seem to be continually deleted seem to me to be reliable sources, so until the debate settles to the contrary, I see no reason why they should be removed.
2. A presumption that edits made by User:Certified.Gangsta on China and/or Taiwan related pages are vandalism and should be reverted. --Sumple (Talk) 08:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Im not personally aware of any policy against "recruiting" users to disputed talk pages. Wikipedia:Resolving disputes says to first talk with other parties involved and to later ask for third parties to comment.--Jiang 09:18, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
