Wellington Firebirds

The Wellington Firebirds are a New Zealand first-class cricket team based in Wellington. It competes in the State Championship first class competition, the State Shield domestic one day competition and the State Twenty20 Cricket Tournament.
The Firebirds were runners up of the State Championship in season 2005/6.
As of October 2006, the Firebirds' most well-known players include Stephen Fleming, Jeetan Patel, Chris Nevin, James Franklin,Mark Gillespie and current captain Michael Parlane.
An Australian, Anthony Stuart has been appointed as the new coach for season 2006/7.
Most home games are played at the Basin Reserve ground in Wellington, one of only a few first class grounds in New Zealand that doesn't also accommodate rugby.
