Wellingore

Wellingore is a small rural village in Lincolnshire, approximately 19 km (12 miles) south of Lincoln, England on the A607.

Wellingore has been around for many years. In 1801 there were 559 residents. This peaked in 1861 at a total population of 943 people. At the last census in 1971 there were 618 people living in Wellingore. The largest building in Wellingore is Wellingore Hall.

RAF Wellingore opened in 1935 and ran for ten years until it was decomissioned in 1945. The control tower was demolished, but several pillboxes and the Battle HQ building can still be found there today.
