Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The pilot introduces the four members of the Eltingville Club: Bill Dickey (the leader), Josh Levy (an overweight blowhard), Pete DiNunzio (a horror movie addict with a Staten Island accent) and Jerry Stokes (a science fiction fan and the group's Dungeonmaster). The episode begins with a game of Dungeons and Dragons, where they are introduced as losers even in their own fantasy world. The boys then go through all the nerd clichés... lusting after science fiction babes (like Denise Crosby), sneaking into horror movies, collecting superhero and science fiction merchandise, and of course, going to their local comic book store.

In the comic book store, Bill and Josh both set their sights on a 12" Kenner Boba Fett action figure, and engage in a "Trivia Off," a rapid-fire science fiction/movie/gaming/pop culture triva challenge. The duel goes on for quite a while (with scattershot topics including The Transformers, Alex Toth, Digimon, The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars).

In the end, both Bill and Josh physically struggle over the action figure, and break it... and must jointly purchase an expensive, now-worthless toy.

The episode and comic are based on Dorkin's days as a comic store employee on Staten Island, New York (Eltingville is one of Staten Island's neighborhoods); the outside shots of the comic shop reflect both the location of an actual store and the Island's most famous view, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

The opening and closing themes were written and performed by The Aquabats.
