Re Nazi copyright, if you look at this image,

there's a broken link, which is where I got info previously. It seems to have been controversial on wikipedia. IIRC, some people think there's a period of 9 years or something in the Nazi era where all German works that were produced are now PD. However, it's complicated because the Nazi empire was an empire, not a single country. Also, I think it wasn't clear what happened to copyrights on works made by the German government itself, since European copyrights run a certain time after the death of the owner but the German government wasn't a person.
