Weighty Decisions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Weighty Decisions was a series of sketches that aired on the Cartoon Network anthology show Sunday Pants. The series combines live-action video with animation, as a man interacts with a Devil and Angel on his shoulders. In each episode, the Devil and Angel end up fighting with each other instead of helping the man.

The series was created by Tim McKeon and Adam Pava, who have written for many other Cartoon Network shows, including Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Johnny Bravo, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and The Life and Times of Juniper Lee. The animation was produced by Six Point Harness studios.

The Devil is played by Rob Corddry, and the Angel is played by Ed Helms — both of whom are correspondents on The Daily Show. The live-action man is played by McKeon himself.

So far, the episodes that have aired are:

  • "Ledge" — The man considers jumping out of a window. The Devil and Angel argue about a party that the Angel didn't show up to, despite the fact that he responded yes on Evite. We learn that tuna noodle caseroles and ambrosia salads are the Angel's favorite foods.
  • "Working Late" — The man considers a sexual invitation from a coworker. The Devil and Angel argue about playing on the company softball team. We learn that the Angel has quite a temper, and is very competitive, making him no fun to play with.
  • "Hitchhiker" — The man considers picking up a hitchhiker. The Devil and Angel argue about talking on the cell phone. We learn that the Devil is obsessed with calf implants, and the Angel is a fan of Tivo.
  • "Video Games" — The man considers unpausing a video game to cheat. Two Angels — the regular one (whose name is apparently "Neil") and a second angel named "Clancy" — both show up on the man's shoulder, causing Neil to realize he's being replaced. We learn that the Devil and Angel vacation together in Lake Tahoe, and that the Angel has a baby on the way. We also learn the Devil's name is Gordon.
  • "Poker" — The man considers betting his house in a game of poker. The Devil and Angel argue about this, then a second smaller Devil and Angel show up on the Angel's shoulders, then a third even smaller Devil and Angel show up on his. Then the man's head explodes. Will he be back next week? Only time will tell. We learn that the Angel has a girlfriend or wife named Sarah, who hates him.
