As an owner, I think this is a good article. It reflects what know about the dog from various books and from owning the dog. The comments about the temprement of the breed are useful and accurate.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.234.243.2 (talkcontribs).

  • Has lots of good info. Needs many more references. --Pharaoh Hound (talk) 20:11, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
It is requested that a photograph or photographs be included in this article to improve its quality, if possible. Preferred photos show the complete animal, head to tail. Additional photos should add information, such as a face-only shot or distinct coat color or texture variants. Please do not include restricted copyright or "fair use" images.
Special request: Photo(s) of the long-coated variety

Is there a weimaraner rescue website or contact person? If so, could you please send me the info.

I went to Google and did a search for "weimaraner rescue" and a whole bunch of web sites came up. Elf | Talk 21:57, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Try the following:

"eyes are unusual in that they change colour according to mood. Colours range from amber to blue and are very striking indeed."

I doubt that

This is not something I have observed. It seems whimsical and not encyclopedic. - Wgsimon 09:25, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

I have never seen a weim with gray eyes. Amber is common, blue is uncommon in adulthood, but common in puppies. Also, not all weims are silver-gray, some are mouse-gray, which is more of a brownish-grey. Both are accepted colors. --68.49.47.119 13:55, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Latest additions--bloat and external links

I removed all the text about bloat, since there's already an article on it. If someone wants to try merging that info into the bloat article, OK, but I'd do it with care since medical info I've read seems to indicate that there is no reliable way to prevent bloat.

I also removed the huge list of external links. The links should provide *encyclopedic* data, such as detailed breed descriptions or links to major Weimaraner breed clubs or organizations. Rescue links aren't appropriate; major kennel club links (e.g., AKC) are already in the breed table; commercial links aren't appropriate. I didn't really want to wade through them to figure out which was which. Elf | Talk 06:20, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Docking etc.

I've edited the bit under appearence that stated that all members of this breed have their tails docked, dew claws removed, and so forth. Outside of the US, the practices of tail docking / declawing are largely banned either outright or with few exceptions. Have tried to reflect that a bit. 82.69.37.32 20:52, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image: 3mth old weimaraner puppy

The picture of the 3mth old puppy and the note underneath it should have the word blue removed. This puppy looks like a regular silver/grey weimaraner, and not a blue one. If you search for blue weimaraners they are generally darker in colour. If its meant to refer to the colour of the pups eyes, it needs to be reworded.

[edit] Biased Link

The link on the bottom that says "The best website for ..." seems a little biased. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.141.246.197 (talk • contribs).

  • You're quite right. I've actually removed the link because it's a forum (not an appropriate link). --Pharaoh Hound (talk) (The Game) 13:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
