[edit] Welcome!

Hi, WehrWolf, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tasks you can do:

I hope you like this place--I sure do--and want to stay. If you need help on how to title new articles check out Wikipedia:Naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and The FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check The Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or The Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on My User talk Page.

Additional Tips:

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like &#126&#126~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

[edit] Westie photo

Thanks for adding Image:WestHighlandWhiteTerrier.JPG. To continue to use it in Wikipedia, it needs to be labeled with its source (e.g., photographer) and under what license it's made available to WIkipedia--such as public domain or GFDL. Could you please update its description page with that info? Thanks. Elf | Talk 00:16, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Gevaudan.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Gevaudan.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for a list of copyright tags that you can use. Thank you. Bryan 23:21, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda → Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda conspiracy theory - name change vote

Hello, there is a vote to rename Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda to Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda conspiracy theory. The voting is here: Talk:Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda#poll on changing the name of this_page. I would appreciate it if you could vote. Thanks. ObsidianOrder 05:19, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Moved from User Page

Whatever you're looking for - you won't find it here.

Ah, thanks. Exactly the type of almost true statement that I was looking for, <grin>. Cheers!

[edit] re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of sexual slurs

Hi WehrWolf! Say, I was looking at that AfD, and one thing I thought of was, I don't think it's a great idea to refer to your colleagues here as "prigs". I'm sure there are less pejorative terms you could use, remember the spirit of the project. Thanks! Herostratus 14:12, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh man. I realized your remark was from the August AfD, and was about to remove this post (August was a long time ago), then I saw that you did it again in the current AfD. Bad boy! No biscuit! Herostratus 14:41, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:BeckTubeMap.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BeckTubeMap.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:ByronAlban.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ByronAlban.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.
