Weak

The word weak is a generic adjective pertaining to a lack of strength. Weak is the opposite of strong.

A person may suffer muscle weakness. A person may be said to be weak, or the signs of life of a dying person may be said to be weak. A radio signal can be described as weak, as could a scientific theory or piece of art or literature. Thus, the term weak is often a subjective term.

- A weak consistency in concurrent programming refers to weaker consistency models.
- A weak entity is a database entity that cannot be uniquely identified by its own attributes alone.

- A weak symbol is a symbol definition in an object file or dynamic library that may be overridden by other symbol definitions.
In physics, the weak nuclear force, one of the four fundamental forces of nature.
In grammar, the term weak is used in opposition to the term strong to designate a conjugation or declension when a language has two parallel systems.
In mathematics, there are multiple meanings:
- The weak convergence of random variables of a probability distribution.
- The weak convergence of a sequence in a Hilbert space.
- The weak closure of subsets of Hilbert spaces.
