We Are Family (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"We Are Family" was a 1979 dance hit song by Sister Sledge, composed by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Rodgers and Edwards offered the song to Atlantic Records; although the record label initially declined, the track was released as a single from the album of the same name and quickly began to gain club and radio play. It eventually went gold, becoming the number one R&B and number two pop song on the charts.

The song, now widely considered a gay anthem, was used as the 1979 theme song for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who won baseball's World Series that year. Artists who have covered the song include the Spice Girls and the Minneapolis riot grrrl band Babes in Toyland. In addition, it was re-recorded in 2001 as a benefit record for the September 11, 2001 attacks.

[edit] Cover by Jordan Pruitt

There's a cover done by Jordan Pruitt for the Disney sequel Air Buddies. This is Jordan's second single. The cover for this single is able to be bought on iTunes as a single because since there is not a soundtrack for Air Buddies, they decided to treat it as a single. It is sold on iTunes and has reached #98 on the iTunes Pop Chart. The artwork cover for this single is on iTunes too. This single is also included on her debut album No Ordinary Girl.

The video contains clips of Jordan singing with a silver background with big round circles on it, her and friends hanging out and singing in a garage with a video camera taping each other, and movie clips from Air Buddies.[1] The director for the video is Skot Bright.
