We've Won It Five Times

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"We've Won It Five Times" is a current chant/song sung by the fans of Liverpool FC, the song came to prominence after the club's victory in the 2005 Champions League, the fifth time they have won the European Cup, which allows them to keep the trophy.

The song in particular is not new to the Anfield faithful, as prior to this "We've Won It Four Times" was sung, the only addition is the obvious 'Five Times'. The song is sung to the tune of the Beach Boys classic hit "Sloop John B".

The lyrics for this chant are as follows:

We won it in Wembley
We won it in Gay Paris
In '77 and '84 it was Rome
We've won it five times, we've won it five times
In Istanbul we'll win it five times
We won it five times, we won it five times
In Istanbul we won it five times
It's only a loan, it's only a loan
In Ancient Greece, we'll bring it back home
  1. The last line has also been sung as "In May in Greece" referring to the date of the Final
  2. Prior to the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, the first chorus was "We've won it four times, we've won it four times, in Istanbul we'll win it five times" this was of course replaced with the above lyrics after the final was won.
