WDJR-FM is a country music radio station broadcasting on 96.9 MHz. WDJR is based in Dothan, Alabama and is owned and operated by Gulf South Communications. The station's signal, which originates from a transmitter in Holmes County Florida, reaches large portions of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

In the 80's, WDJR was known as "The Monster" because of its large coverage area and slamming rock music. After a brief format change to lite rock, WDJR flipped to Country Music in 1993 by playing Friends In Low Places, by Garth Brooks for several days to gain attention and WDJR became Hot Country 96.9.

WDJR never enjoyed huge success until Hurricane Opal destroyed most of the Gulf Coast (a very large portion of WDJR's coverage area) in 1995. During the hurricane, almost every single radio and TV station was unable to broadcast except WDJR.

While Hurricane Opal ravaged the listening area, Jerry Broadway, Mitch English and Tom Nebel broadcasted weather reports, news and information to thousands of listeners in despair. From that point forth, WDJR because the ratings leader until spring of 2003. Today, WDJR-FM and direct competitor WTVY-FM battle for the lead in market ratings.

WDJR plays today's Country music with an emphasis on new music while still playing the older favorites from the 80's and 90's.

WDJR also has special programs on the weekends such as the Foxworthy Countdown and Rick Jackson's Country Hall of Fame. WDJR is also an ABC Radio affiliate and broadcasts Paul Harvey at 7:30am, Noon and 5:30 with "The Rest of The Story".

Trips to the CMA/ACM awards and tickets/giveaways to The National Peanut Festival in November each year and WDJR has been a top sponsor for nearly 10 years.

For years WDJR has broadcast from the 2,000 foot WTVY-TV tower in Holmes County Florida at the 1,550 foot mark. In the spring of 2006, WDJR moved to their own 1,050 foot tower a few hundred yards from WTVY-TV. With the move, WDJR went down in class per FCC requirements.
