WBUL

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WBUL 1620am is the University of South Florida's student-run radio station. One of Florida's largest student-run radio stations, every aspect of operation is handled by student workers and volunteers.

WBUL is an agency within USF's Student Government and manages a budget in excess of $120,000 per year. Staffed by student workers, the station office and on-air studio are located in lower level of USF's Student Union, the Phyllis P. Marshall Center.

Volunteers are the heart of the organization. Student volunteers interested in music, journalism, and radio have the opportunity to work with and learn from professionals in their field of interest. WBUL maintains regular contact with major record labels, headlining bands, and local media outlets.

WBUL's programming represents over a dozen genres of music along with daily news, sports, and talk shows. The station transmits live 24x7 over the 1620 AM frequency, Channel 6 on closed-circuit campus television, and online streams on www.wbul.org.

The Music Department works to deliver fresh, new music to DJ's and students. Each week, dozens of new albums are reviewed and placed in rotation for on-air play. WBUL is proud to deliver fresh independent programming without corporate influence.
