Wayne Smith (musician)

Wayne Smith (born in Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica, on December 5, 1965) is a Jamaican reggae musician.

His 1985 recording of "(Under Me) Sleng Teng", is generally regarded as the beginning of ragga style reggae. The rhythm was created on a Casio Music Box and is based on the riff from Eddie Cochran's Something Else. Although there are a number of conflicting stories about how it was fist found the commonly accepted view is that Wayne Smith and Noel Bailey that discovered it.
