Wayne Sherlock (born 21 June 1978) is an Irish sportsman. He is a member of the Cork senior hurling panel.

Wayne Sherlock was born in Cork in 1978. He grew up in Mahon on the south-east of the city close to Blackrock village. Although his family had no hurling tradition Sherlock showed great skill and quickly became a member of the famous Blackrock club. In 1994 he was a member of the Blackrock team that won the Cork County Minor Championship against Midleton. In 1996 Sherlock joined the Blackrocks enior team and played in most of their league matches. Although they were defeated in the very first round of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship, Sherlock joined the Cork minor hurling team where success was not forthcoming.

In 1997 he was a member of the Cork under-21 panel that calimed the All-Ireland title. Sherlock was an automatic choice for both Cork under-21s and Blackrock seniors for 1998. A defeat of Galway gave him a second consecutive All-Ireland Under-21 medal. Sherlock made his senior inter-county debut in a National Hurling League games against Kilkenny in February 1999. He played three further league games and was picked in the team that faced Waterford in the first round of the Munster Championship in 1999. Sherlock later won his first Munster medal that year, as well as being named "Man of the Match" in the Munster final against Clare. Sherlock later claimed his first All-Ireland medal with a victory over Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. 1999 finished on an even higher note for Ryan when his club, Blackrock, won the Cork Senior Hurling Championship for the first time in 14 years.

In 2000 Sherlock claimed a second consecutive Munster title, however, his side were defeated by Offaly in the All-Ireland semi-final. he won further county titles with Blackrock in 2001 and 2002. In 2003 Sherlock won his third Munster title, however, he lost out on another All-Ireland medal when Kilkenny were victorious in the final. Cork and Sherlock were back in 2004. In spite of losing the Munster final, they came through the "back-door" and won the All-Ireland title. Sherlock finished off the year with his first All-Star Award. Injury forced him off the team in 2005, with his poistion at corner-back being taken over by Pat Mulcahy. He made a brief appearance in the 2006 All-Ireland Hurling Final but while a definite place on the team seemed elusive for Sherlock, the retirement of Mulcahy in 2007 opens a door for his return to the starting 15.
