Wayne College is a branch campus of The University of Akron offering two-year degrees and a transfer program to Akron resulting in a four-year degree. It is located in Orrville, Ohio.

Founded in 1972, Wayne College is the only regional branch of The University of Akron and is authorized by the State of Ohio through the Ohio State Board of Regents to offer general education, including associate's degrees and baccalaureate-oriented preparation; technical education programs; and continuing education experiences for those who live in the College's service area of Wayne, Medina and Holmes counties.

With one primary and several smaller buildings, Wayne College has approximately 200,000 square feet (19,000 m²) on a campus of 160 acres (647,000 m²) on the north edge of the city of Orrville, Ohio. The College is currently working with Sasaki and Associates Architects to develop a twenty-year plan for campus/facilities development. The College has maintained a high degree of technical currency in its classrooms, labs, and other facilities. The College has a state-of-the-art distance learning classroom and over 200 computers on campus accessible to students.

Wayne College has 30 full-time faculty, 15 of whom hold doctorate degrees. The average full-time faculty member has a master's degree plus 20 semester hours of additional coursework and 12 years of teaching experience. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12 to 1 with an average class size of 18 students.

[edit] Enrollment

Wayne College enrolls approximately 1,700 students each semester for credit classes with another 2,000 participating in some manner of continuing education and/or workforce development training. Of those students, 70% come from Wayne County, 20% from Medina County, with the remaining 10% from Holmes and other counties. Wayne College offers day and evening classes, plus special sections for Weekend College.
