Wayne Cheverie

Wayne Cheverie is a former politician, government minister and lawyer who now sits as a judge in Prince Edward Island Court. He was a cabinet minister who ran for the leadership of Prince Edward Island Liberal Party in 1996 against Daniel Mullen, Keith Milligan, and Ian "Tex" MacDonald. The winning candidate would gain the leadership of the party and the premiership. The Liberals were the governing party of Prince Edward Island at the time under the leadership of Catherine Callbeck, who resigned as leader of the party and therefore as leader of the government in order to give the party a better chance to win re-election following a controversial wage roll-back for thousands of Public Sector employees in the province.
