Waylon & Willie, as the name implies, is a duet album by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, released on RCA Victor in 1978. Released at a time when the outlaw movement was beginning to wane creatively, the album still served to promote the singers well, becoming one of the highest-selling releases in their catalogues and reaching the top of the country charts. The record contains three songs sung individually by each of the two artists, as well as five duets. Some of the tracks used on the album had previously been released in some form; these were mostly redone using overdubbing. Unquestionably, the album's biggest hit was "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys", hitting #1 on the country charts, entering the pop charts and earning the duo a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. Three other songs – "Lookin' for a Feeling", "I Can Get Off on You" and "The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want to Get Over You)" – also reached the top of the charts, while "If You Can Touch Her at All" peaked at #5. "Gold Dust Woman" is a song originally off Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album Rumours. The original liner notes, complimenting Jennings and Nelson on their ability to surprise and deliver solid material, were written by Chet Flippo. Waylon & Willie was reissued by RCA Records in 2001; inexplicably, the record was released in truncated form, with several tracks left off.
