Wayland (HM Prison)

Wayland Prison is a prison in the county of Norfolk, England located near the village of Griston. The prison opened in 1985, and is used for Category C inmates.


As of October 2006, the prison had a capacity of 709 inmates in eight residential units. Most cells are single occupancy, though the Induction Wing, and some selected cells in the main wings, are shared.

Two of the accommodation units are designated for those taking part in Sex Offender Treatment Programmes.

The prison has been enlarged on three occasions.
