[edit] Phoenix
While repairing links to the Phoenix dab page, I noticed there were quite a few mythological birds identified with the phoenix. In particular, I needed to be careful about references to Asian phoenixes: some referred to phoenix, some referred to fenghuang, and some referred to the vermilion bird.
The following is a list of all the birds listed as phoenixes or "phoenix-equivalents" in the various articles I edited.
- Bennu, the Egyptian firebird
- Fenghuang, the king of birds, often referred to as the "Chinese phoenix"
- Firebird (Russian folklore), the zhar-ptitsa, a Russian firebird
- Garuda, an enormous bird in Hindu and Buddhist mythology
- Huma (mythology), the "bird of paradise", a cyclically immortal Persian firebird
- Phoenix (mythology), the cyclically immortal firebird based on the Bennu
- Roc, a huge Persian bird
- Simurgh, a Persian bird synonymous with the Roc or Phoenix
- Vermilion Bird (Chinese constellation), the Zhu Que or Suzaku, a spirit bird of the heavens
[edit] Tiger
My favorite-ever vandalism. I don't know why.
[edit] Cartoon bands
This is a list of cartoon characters that have produced hit singles (or something reasonably close).
- The Archies (the only cartoon characters to chart #1 for a given year in the Billboard Hot 100)
- The Chipmunks
- Gorillaz
- MC Skat Kat
[edit] Claimants to the throne of England
The monarchy of England has gone through some interesting twists and turns, where the legitimate heirs or monarchs have been ousted in the name of conquest or politics. At one point, the article "List of English monarchs" contained a list of potential claimants to the throne — the various lines that had been ousted and their descendants. It was eventually removed as original research, but I always found it fascinating.
