Can someone who knows how combine this with {{waybackdate}} by using if-then statements that put an asterisk in place of the date if none is specified, please? —msh210 02:36, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Why is PAGENAME used?

Why is PAGENAME used as part of the output of the template? If, for example, in the article on History of the United States, there was a reference (say) to the original settlers, and then to the civil war, it would look like this:

Reference 1 description of source about original settlers, etc., History of the United States at the Wayback Machine

Reference 2 description of source about Civil Way, etc., History of the United States at the Wayback Machine

Which is very strange - it's not like readers don't know what article they're reading, and often the title of the article isn't the best description of what a source is about, as in this illustration.

I suggest the template output be changed so this would be what a reference would look like:

Reference - article name, author, date, publication, etc., Sourced from the Wayback Machine.
