Waverton, Cumbria

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waverton is a village in Cumbria, in the United Kingdom.

Waverton church was built as a chapel of ease for Wigton Parish church in 1865. Christ Church became the parish church for the newly formed Waverton-cum-Dundraw parish in 1902. St Patrick evangelised near this crossroads before moving on to Aspatria.

The church houses fittings from the former Dundraw Mission (which ceased as a place of worship in 1965) including its altar which was carved by the vicar of the day, the lectern and a font. A new war memorial (also from Dundraw) is to be installed.
