Waverley Wanderers Football Club is an Australian amateur association football club based in the south-east Melbourne suburb of Clayton, Australia. The club is also known, unofficially, as AEK Waverley.

The club currently competes in the Victorian State League Division 2 South-East.

[edit] History

Formed as Waverley Wanderers Soccer Club in 1980 by Melbourne's Greek community (more specifically, supporters of Greece's AEK Athens FC, hence the AEK moniker and club colours of yellow and black), the club began competing in the lower tiers of Victoria's State Leagues.

A recent surge in on-field success (season 2004 and 2005 championships) allowed the club to gain a double-promotion and reach the Victorian State League Division 2 SE in 2006, where it currently competes.

Waverley Wanderers FC boast a large player base with well over 200 registered footballers, including junior teams and womens' teams (in addition to the senior men's teams).
