A water board (Dutch: waterschap or hoogheemraadschap, Flanders and Northern France: watering, German: Wasserverband) is a regional organisation charged with the supply of water and care of water levels in its area.

In the Netherlands, water boards were one of the earliest forms of government. Due to mergers, there are 27 of them (2006). Their borders don't coincide with municipal borders. Water boards are headed by dijkgraven.

They raise taxes, and elections for the boards are held every four years, although there isn't much interest in those among the general populace.
