Wataniya Telecom

Wataniya Telecom is the second licensed GSM mobile operator in Kuwait. Commercially launched in December 1999, Wataniya Telecom is used to be part of Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO) until recently acquired by Qtel (Qatari Telecomm Co) in a deal worth a $3.8 billion. Wataniya Telecom currently serves more than 8.8 million customers. Wataniya Telecom founded Wataniya International in 2004 and Wataniya Maldives. It currently owns shares of Asia Cell and Bravo Telecom. In February 2007, Wataniya Telecom signed an agreement with Palestine's ministiry of informtion technology and telecommunication that allows it to build and operate the second mobile network in the country, under the company Wataniya in Palestine [[1]]
