Wat Tambor is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. He is a minor villain in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and appears occasionally in the Expanded Universe.

[edit] Character overview

He was introduced in Attack of the Clones as the foreman of the Techno Union, a multi-planet conglomerate dealing in manufacturing and product development. To escape the choking bureaucracy of the Galactic Senate, he joined Count Dooku's Confederacy of Independent Systems and supplied his droid armies to them. He also hosted the first Separatist meeting at a Union factory on the planet Geonosis.

Tambor relied on a special pressurized suit to survive in most oxygen-rich atmospheres (as his home planet contained an atmosphere rich in methane) and spoke through a mechanical voicebox.

In Revenge of the Sith, Wat Tambor was kept at a secret location on Utapau along with the rest of the Separatist Council, due to the changing climate of the Clone Wars. He and the other Separatists were later relocated to Mustafar, where they were slaughtered by Emperor Palpatine's newest Sith apprentice, Darth Vader. He was one of the last to die, as he is seen behind Vader in the conference room and by then, most of the other Separatists were already dead.

[edit] Expanded Universe

During the Clone Wars, a bounty was placed on Tambor's head. While Tambor stayed on the planet Xagobah with Separatist leader General Grievous, the young bounty hunter Boba Fett tracked him there, but was unsuccessful in capturing him.

Also in the midst of the Clone Wars, Tambor got into a clash with Anakin Skywalker, in which he lost his right eye. In the Dark Horse published comic Star Wars: Visionaries, it is revealed how Tambor received a replacement eye from a monster called the Albino Cyclops. Following this incident, Tambor was told by the Techno Union Overlord Council that he was "to go to Mustafar to meet his destiny." It is unclear if this story is actually canonical, as most of Visionaries takes place in the non-continuity Infinities universe.
