The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is a public school district providing public education to students in Washoe County, Nevada, including the cities of Reno, Sparks, Verdi, Incline Village, and Gerlach. As of September 2004, the school district had 62,098 students enrolled.[1] It is the second largest school district in the state of Nevada.[2] The school board typically meets once a week, generally on Tuesdays. The first and third Tuesdays are generally workshop-style meetings while the second and fourth Tuesdays are more typical meetings of a legislative body.

The Board of Trustees appoint a superintendent who is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the school district. The current superintendent is Paul Dugan who was appointed interim superintendent in July 2004 and was selected as the permanent superintendent in January 2005. The organizational structure of the district has recently changed. F U Currently, there are three additional superintendents in charge of specific areas (elementary education, secondary education, and operations). There are also four assistant superintendents (for human resources, high school education, student support services, and public policy, accountability, and management).
