Washington State Route 543
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Route 543, also known as SR-543, is a numbered state highway in Washington, United States. SR-543, only 1.09 miles (1.72 km) in length, is used by large commercial vehicles crossing the U.S./Canada border to access Interstate 5 or Highway 1, as these vehicles are not permitted to use the Peace Arch border crossing.
Interstate 5 exit 275 provides access to this 2-3 lane road with at grade intersections at H and D Street. There is a special truck queueing lane on the shoulder starting just before H Avenue for when there are long hold times at the border.
The Pacific Highway border crossing participates in the NEXUS program and has 1 lane each direction open to NEXUS card holders. The hours of operation are: (to Canada) 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific time (to USA) noon to 3 p.m..
Prior to the current naming scheme, this route was designated as Primary State Highway 1 Truck Route.
After crossing into British Columbia, Canada, the route becomes Highway 15.
[edit] Continues as
