Washington Mews

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Washington Mews is a private gated street in New York City between 5th Avenue and University Place north of Washington Square Park. It was originally a complex of stables that serviced horses from homes in the area. The stables were converted to housing as well as offices and other facilities for New York University. The original brick roads are still largely intact, making this quiet street a beautiful surviving scene from New York's past.
